Transistor has three layers of N and P.  ((NPN OR PNP),
Terminals of transistor: collector, base and emitter.
Emitter layer emits electrons: it is heavily doped.
Base layer is lightly doped-thickness 10.6m
Collector layer collects electrons: size is large - dissipates large power.
For the operation of a transistor - base - emitter junction is forward biased.
Collector - base junction is reverse biased.
Collector current, 1 c = emitter current, 1e.
